From Tokyo Airport / Narita To Matsumoto

Take the Narita Express "NEX", operated by Japan Railways (JR) Group, from the airport to Shinjuku station.
From there you can choose one of the following ways to get to Matsumoto City.

By JR limited express train

The train to Matsumoto is called the "Azusa" or "Super Azusa" limited express. (It is named after a river than runs through the area near by Matsumoto through Nagano Prefecture to the west coast).

The journey takes about 2 - 3 hours for the journey from Tokyo's Shinjuku Station to Matsumoto Station. The one-way fare is 6200 Yen for non-reserved seats and about 6700 Yen for reserved seats. (Six trip tickets cost 4500 yen per trip). There are one or two trains per hour depending on the time of day. The timetable is here.

By highway bus

Alpico and Keio bus companies operate an hourly service between the Keio Highway Bus Terminal in Shinjuku and Matsumoto. The one-way trip takes about 3 hours and costs 3400 Yen. A round trip ticket costs only 5950 Yen, but the return trip must be made within seven days of the outward journey. Click here to go to Alpico site for timetable and other information.


From Kansai International Airport (Kanku)  To Matsumoto

By JR limited express and Bullet trains

Take the "Haruka" limited express train requiring about 1 hour for the journey from the airport to Osaka station. Then take the "Shinkansen" ('Bullet Train') requiring 1 hour for the journey from Osaka station to Nagoya station. The final stage taking about 2 hours, is on the the "Shinano" limited express train from Nagoya station to Matsumoto. The one-way fare from start to finish is 13120 Yen. The timetable is here.

By highway bus

Once you get to Osaka station, you may also choose to use a highway bus service.  Alpico and Hankyu bus companies operate twice daily between Hankyu Osaka Bus Terminal at Osaka Station and Matsumoto. The one-way trip takes about 5 hours and 30 minutes and costs 5710 Yen. A return ticket costs only a little less at 10100 Yen, but the return trip must be within ten days of the outward journey. From Matsumoto To Norikura Kogen    Time Table

By local train and local bus

 From Matsumto Station, Transfer to Kamikochi Line of Matsumoto Dentetsu Railway to Shinshimashima Station. Bus to Norikura Kogen(1hr 30 min). Ask driver to let you off at Ski-jyomae bus stop.
from bus stop: Keep going uphill(10m/33feet) after getting off at Ski-jyomae, make a right at #26 sign and you see our sign ..6min-walk from bus stop.

From Tokyo
 
Take Chuo Expressway to Okaya Jct, and get on Nagano Expressway, Matsumoto IC, Turnoff(about 2hrs.30min). From Matsumoto, R158 to Maekawado(40min.), turnoff left at Mt Norikura(traffic lights) and cross red color bridge to Norikura Kogen(10min.) where numbered route begins. We are #26....turnoff right(#26 sign), you will find Grindelwald after 1min drive.

From Osaka, Kyoto, and Nagoya
Take Meishin Expressway to Komaki Jct(2hrs.30min), and get on Chuo Expressway to Okaya Jct, and get on Nagano Expressway, Matsumoto IC Turnoff(2hrs).
